Release Intern – Part time position for student

Interning as a Release Intern you will:

  • Partner with IT project teams to develop and provide release management services.
  • Be part of coaching and mentoring team working on all levels of the organization to adopt methodologies and tools to improve the release management services.
  • Ensure releases are deployed successfully and transitioned to an operational status.
  • Participation in our service evolution through development and adoption
  • Be responsible for implementing and managing release processes for the progression of code in the development, test and production environments.
  • Work collaboratively with all participants involved in software development (developers, testers, project managers, scrum masters, product owners, supplier partners).
  • Improve the software engineering processes and practices associated with continuously building, deploying, and updating software and environments.
  • Assist in managing projects and inter dependencies with a focus on release management activities.
  • Maintain the release schedule for all core services and ensure alignment across key partners and vendors.
  • Maintain a release repository and manage key information such as build and release procedures, dependencies, and notification lists.
  • Prepare weekly release reports

What should you know / have:

  • Bachelor or master’s degree in computer science or related field
  • Solid understanding of project management principles
  • Demonstrate ability to be part of cross-functional work teams
  • Ability to work independently, as well as a productive and collaborative team member
  • Demonstrated analytical skills
  • Good understanding of software engineering, release engineering and/or configuration management.
  • ITIL process understanding
  • Strong presentation skills with experience in presenting and influencing leadership teams.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills are a must, with experience in delivering presentations to peer groups
  • Attention to detail and focus on quality
  • Willingness to learn and extend your horizons

What will you do / learn:

  • Learn how to develop release plans, define and construct IT environments, establish structured source code management practice, plan and execute releases and more.
  • Learn how to use scripts and automation tools used to build, integrate, and deploy software releases to various platforms.
  • Learn business processes related to systems and functional work area being supported.
  • Gain in-depth knowledge of Service Transition and Service Operation as per ITIL v3 and v4
