For the Sr. Specialist – Solution Architecture role, we are looking for an individual with strong technical and communication skills, who can lead IT solution definition to meet information needs of users in various Merck business areas.

Primary activities/responsibilities:

  • Partner with divisional IT to understand the business need and help develop clear success criteria for solving for the need
  • Actively participate/help facilitate business requirement sessions to understand the details of the business need adequately to define solution options 
  • Define IT solution choices and trade-offs for solving a business need and clearly identify recommendations and alternatives
  • Review IT solution options and recommendations with IT stakeholders to gain alignment on path forward.
  • Translate architecture into low level design to enable developments teams to develop off the low level designs
  • Work closely with development teams to provide guidance and solve all open design issues/questions on a day to day basis
  • Step in as an end to end development lead for complex programs
  • Review IT solution options with business stakeholders and influence path forward to optimize value for Merck
  • Stay current with latest technology trends in information management and experiment technologies to advance business outcomes where possible
  • Stay current with Merck EIM reference architecture and come an active consumer of it by helping continuously refine to address emerging business needs.
  • Work collaboratively with various platforms and competencies that support the purpose of Enterprise Information Management and influence their road maps to address current and emerging information management business needs of the business
  • Develop a strong network of solution architects inside Merck (in divisional Its) to leverage their learnings and to influence their solution choices to help optimize Merck IT investments
  • Actively engage with information management community outside of Merck to bring in best practices from the industry to help advance business outcomes
  • Establish and maintain a network of external partners to leverage them for technology solution definition where needed
 
Education Minimum Requirement:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Engineering

 

 

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Demonstrated expertise in traditional and modern warehousing technologies
  • At least 5 years’ experience in defining large and/or complex information management solutions including technologies covering application integration(Informatica, TIBCO), data profiling and wrangling, master data management , data warehousing(Teradata, HANA, Hadoop), visualization (Spotfire/ Qlik / Cognos) and advanced analytics.
  • Strong communication skills to articulate and defend technology recommendations
  • Aptitude, temperament and demonstrated experience in navigating large complex IT organizations to gain alignment on solution choices expeditiously
  • Experience with health care, consulting or cross-industry exposure
  • Ability to relentlessly focus on outcomes (moving the business forward)
  • Strong business acumen, and willingness and ability to learn new business areas
  • Willingness and ability to adapt to rapidly changing technology and apply it to business needs
  • Ability to develop relationships and communicate with people at all levels of the organization (both technical and non-technical)
  • Organizationally savvy, leveraging social network to escape hierarchy. Adept at managing diverse relationships across expertise, geography and culture. Ability to influence without authority
  • Open and receptive to listening, and discerning pain points; Leads with ideas, evidence and creates and fosters a collaborative atmosphere
  • Trusted agent, acts with integrity           
  • Proven experience with software development life cycle (SDLC) methodologies like waterfall, agile, etc.
  • Knowledge of one or more programming and scripting languages
  • Advanced knowledge of sql
  • Good knowledge of Amazon and Microsoft cloud services
  • Worked in the capacity of technical lead in the past

What Personal Information is used and how long is it retained?

Taleo* uses Personal Information such as your name, contact information and other information necessary for the application process. This information may be used by the Human Resources (HR) organization to contact you at any time during your candidacy for employment, to send you announcements, or request other types of information as required. Who will have access to Personal Information in Taleo and how will they protect it?

Access to Personal Information in Taleo is limited to you, HR Personnel and limited IT support personnel, based on specific security roles and standard data authorization as outlined for all HR applications. Additionally, some countries utilize third party recruiters that will also have access to the information you input into Taleo. Taleo is hosted by a third party vendor, Oracle, based in the United States. Oracle may also use additional third party vendors to process personal data. Oracle has contractually committed to protect Personal Information and to process it only as instructed by our company, including the destruction of the Personal Information at the end of the retention period. Oracle has certified its compliance with the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield Framework for processing employee related Personal Information.
Access to Personal Information may be from within the country in which the individual to whom the data relates is based, or from any other country in which an authorized user of Taleo is based. While the country from which information is accessed may not have laws that protect Personal Information in the same way as the country in which you are based, all Personal Information in Taleo will be used in accordance with the Global Privacy Notice for Employment-Related purposes , any local privacy notices you receive, all applicable company policies with respect to the privacy and confidentiality of Personal Information, including, but not limited to our Global Privacy and Data Protection Policy and our Global Internet Privacy Policy and any additional requirements of the countries in which the employees to whom the data relate are based.

 

How do I update, correct or delete Personal Information in Taleo?

You have the right to access, rectify and delete your Personal Information that you provide and maintain in your Taleo Profile at any time.
