MSD’s Information Technology division partners with colleagues from the business across all geographies and divisions to help serve our patients and customers around the world. To enable this we need leaders to charter and build the Prague Hub in many different competency areas. For the Associate Director for Advanced Analytics, we are seeking an energetic, forward-thinking leader who in collaboration with scientific/clinical/business leaders leverages data and information to bring insights to make informed scientific/business decisions. This position will be a “hands-on” with a strong focus on the skills needed to extract scientific and business meaning from and interpret data using all kinds of advanced analytics method – statistical, mathematical, including simulations, optimizations, machine learning. This position will be closely working closely with strategy and delivery leaders across divisional and enterprise IT teams, especially in the field of MSD research and development.

 


Key Responsibilities:

  • Understands the customer/stakeholders business needs/priorities and helps building solutions that support our business goals. Establish and manages the close relationship with customers/stakeholders.
  • Participates on the definition of complex analytics projects working with the business/IT teams to propose the right analytical approach/methodology
  • Has overview of the DS - AA market development to be able to come up/explore new ways of delivering analytics solutions to increase their value/contribution
  • Manages a group of 3-4 data scientists, drives professional as well as personal development of subordinates to help them growth their expertise and career within MSD to maximize the value they deliver to the business. Is responsible for high quality deliveries of his team.
  • Builds “community of practice” leveraging experience from delivering complex analytics projects, functionally/technically mentors more junior colleagues while contributing to build a strong skilled team of advanced analytic scientists.
  • Contribute to innovative experiments, specifically to idea generation, idea incubation and/or experimentation, identifying tangible and measurable criteria
  • Communicates with the business and provides with necessary insights both from an IT and a business perspective in order to build appreciation for the quantitative tools and analyses and to drive organizational buy in on a journey from descriptive to predictive analytics
  • Promote a culture of modelling and analytics as a differentiator and competitive advantage.

Education and Skills Required

Degree or advanced degree in data science, mathematics, statistics, or computer science or related fields; PhD preferred

 


Minimum Experience Required
Minimum of 5-10 years of relevant delivery of complex analytical projects (industrialized, validated), minimum 2 years of relevant experience in the Life Sciences industry.

 


Skills/Knowledge Required

  • Proficiency in statistical analysis, quantitative analytics, forecasting/predictive analytics, multivariate testing, and optimization algorithms multi-method modeling and simulation, optimization; economic decision analysis; algorithm development, data integration, mining, and visualization of complex data
  • Self-motivation, proactivity and ability to work independently with minimum direction Proven knowledge of business processes and industry/market trends within the pharmaceutical space
  • Excellent business acumen, with proven ability to understand business processes in detail – both at global and region/country levels – and translate these into user stories and detailed business requirements
  • Proven leadership and negotiation skills, along with good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (English – both oral and written), along with the ability to communicate appropriately and confidently with colleagues from different backgrounds and seniority levels
  • Excellent organizational skills, with ability to navigate a complex matrix environment and organize/prioritize work

Taleo is hosted by a third party vendor, Oracle, based in the United States. Oracle may also use additional third party vendors to process personal data. Oracle has contractually committed to protect Personal Information and to process it only as instructed by our company, including the destruction of the Personal Information at the end of the retention period. Oracle has certified its compliance with the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield Framework for processing employee related Personal Information.
Access to Personal Information may be from within the country in which the individual to whom the data relates is based, or from any other country in which an authorized user of Taleo is based. While the country from which information is accessed may not have laws that protect Personal Information in the same way as the country in which you are based, all Personal Information in Taleo will be used in accordance with the Global Privacy Notice for Employment-Related purposes , any local privacy notices you receive, all applicable company policies with respect to the privacy and confidentiality of Personal Information, including, but not limited to our Global Privacy and Data Protection Policy and our Global Internet Privacy Policy and any additional requirements of the countries in which the employees to whom the data relate are based.

 

How do I update, correct or delete Personal Information in Taleo?

You have the right to access, rectify and delete your Personal Information that you provide and maintain in your Taleo Profile at any time. You can also request that the information be removed from our database by contacting the company’s Privacy Office. At any time you may decide no longer to use Taleo, raise a concern or make a complaint about your privacy or use or sharing of Personal Information about you by contacting the company’s Privacy Office.
