In this environment we are working towards supporting global business processes and system governance in a distributed environment where we reap the benefits of proximity to the business units yet stay aligned with the company’s global harmonized processes.


The Position (Director, ERP Competency Center)


The incumbent, as a part of Enterprise IT with dual responsibility for projects and operations, will be accountable for the Prague based SAP ERP activities in operations, support, process enhancements and new deployments. The incumbent will have the following responsibilities: (1) ERP Services for COMET and the remaining legacy SAP ERP systems utilized in the region; (2) Network Leadership working with ERP teams in other Hubs as well as other EMEA IT Leaders to optimize IT services to the business;
(3) Vendor Management to manage the relationships with key suppliers and ensure their performance meets our expectations; (4) Business contact in the EMEA region for incidents, production issues, new demand and ERP Consulting and (5) People and Culture to build and coordinate strategic IT capabilities across the region and other hubs.


Key Responsibilities:

ERP Services
  • Provide leadership to a team of 50 professionals, covering all functional areas in SAP (Order to Cash, Supply Chain Management, Source to Settle, Financial Business Management, Human Resource Management), the SAP technical areas (Basis, Abap, Security), Service Management and Change, Communications, and Training for busiess users of the Comet Platform
  • Realize AMS Operational SLA’s and assure service levels as part of the global operations team
  • Ensure timely delivery of all work, whether production support, live market enhancements or new deployments
  • Take leadership roles to support select business initiatives or programs in the region
  • Provides the environment to allow team leads to work with global functional leads on work assignments
  • Works closely with global project deployment and service delivery management teams to ensure appropriate resource allocation for all activities
  • Manges the Prague discretionary opex spend

Network Leadership
  • Works with ERP teams in NA and AP Hub to achieve a global approach to ERP design and support and deployment, while operating in a distributed organization across multiple regions
  • As member of 3 LT’s (Prague LT, ERP CC LT and AMS LT) , ensure the “matrixed interests” are well represented in all of them and leverage the co-location of different teams in Prague to drive results
  • Assist the Executive Director in managing communications and expectations with regional business clients and IT peers
  • Participates in IT regional business planning
  • Provide leadership in Hub Maturation programs as needed

Vendor Management
  • Manages technology strategic suppliers’ relations in the region; engages our strategic vendors to evaluate their service levels and to optimize their service base based upon a continuously improvement approach
  • Participates in governance meetings with the strategic suppliers; contributes in negotiations, contract issues and new services; conducts regular service level reviews
  • Works with supplier management and global procurement for niche activities not covered by strategic suppliers

Business Contact
  • Operate as contact to key EMEA business contacts and process stewards for:
    • Escalation of major incidents and significant service disruption
    • First point of entry for queries on new demand
    • ERP Consulting in exploratory initiatives

People and Culture
  • Contributes to build a strategic IT capability through appropriate staffing, organizational development and employee development, engagement and training, more specifically:
    • Continue to build and mature the team
    • Actively lead additional buildup as new hiring/staffing demands arise
    • Mature management leadership within the team
    • Ensure learning and growth of staff in both pharmaceutical business and technical acumen
  • Responsible for ensuring achievement of results within the team, providing guidance, coaching and direction to staff on performance management and resource allocation

Education Minimum Requirement:


  • BS in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent discipline
  • ITIL certification
  • Experience with SAP programs and/or operations.


Required Experience and Skills:


  • The candidate should have 7-10+ years of management experience in providing functional and technical leadership as well as in managing IT services and projects in highly complex and dynamic business environment
  • Demonstrated experience with operating in a highly international environment and sensitivity to cultural differences


Preferred Experience and Skills:


  • Strong health care, consulting or cross-industry business acumen, experience in IT infrastructure processes and operations
  • Proven track record of leadership, talent selection and management, strong coaching experience skills are required
  • Strong communication (written, oral, presentation), negotiation, influencing and relationship skills along with high personal integrity, credibility, and energy
  • Demonstrated network leadership in operating and driving accomplishments within a matrix organization, managing cross-divisional projects and building effective cross-functional teams and relationships
  • Established record in managing multiple and competing priorities
  • Adept at managing diverse perspectives in an unbiased way across multiple stakeholder and communities
  • Experience with presentations and facilitating discussions with senior stakeholders
