Position Overview:

In this role, you will help define the lean user research program including methodology, measurement, tools and processes. You will be the user research expert, providing leadership, people management, knowledge of usability trends and best practices, and project management skills to user experience team members and other cross-functional teams.


You have strong user research expertise that includes ethnographic, field studies, concept testing, and technology assessments with users; usability testing; and collecting secondary research relevant to the team’s needs. In this role, you would work with a skilled team of designers, product owners, engineers and stakeholders to research and craft experiences that drive better efficiency and satisfaction of our users.


Responsibilities:
  • Develop the foundation for the lean user research program. Collaborate with product owners, engineering and stakeholders to understand business requirements
  • Manage UX researcher team and evangelize UX research across our organization
  • Collect and analyze user behavior by leading usability lab studies (both in-person and remote), surveys, field studies, experiments, etc.
  • Identify key research questions and objectives in partnership with product, design and engineering teams
  • Identify research and design targets, developing screeners that best support projects
  • Carry out research projects with highest levels of customer awareness
  • Create user research testing programs in a Lean UX approach that satisfy business strategies and user needs
  • Plan and deliver research programs within timeline and project requirements
  • Facilitate or help to conduct Discovery workshops (e.g. Value Proposition Canvas, Design Sprints)
  • Ensure alignment among all parts of the organization through effective communication
  • Continually improve user research processes to gain efficiency, remove obstacles, and simplify problems
Qualifications:

An ideal candidate understands design and has applied modern user research methods and best practices, has designed and created programs within organizations and has lead field and lab research projects for a variety of companies. You should be passionate about research and have the ability to work in Agile design and development environments. You should also have experience running user research in a Lean UX environment. Data is crucial to the success of the research, and you have the analytical skills to design quantitative and qualitative research efforts. This individual will use their expertise to guide the use of the right research approaches for a variety of circumstances, moving easily across the spectrums of qualitative and quantitative, divergent and convergent, attitudinal and behavioral. You thrive on providing creative and pragmatic solutions for getting the data needed to untangle user experience problems.


As a core member of our UX team, you are excellent at communication and collaboration, with a willingness to educate the entire organization on the importance of user research. This role is a senior role within the product design organization which requires you to be very self-directed and willing to manage programs as part of the team. The candidate is a strong critical thinker and possesses an unrelenting commitment to quality.


  • More than 5 years’ experience conducting user research in a product environment
  • At least 3 years’ experience in people management within UX or UX Research team
  • Detail oriented, with experience planning, executing, and analyzing qualitative research projects
  • Experience with lean product and lean UX research processes and working with agile teams
  • Experience performing user research on mobile and desktop applications
  • Excellent communication skills, both orally and written, and an ability to build great relationships with folks all across the organization
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of the user experience design process, and how user research is leveraged to improve user goals and behaviors
  • Demonstrated ability to have completed multiple, complex user research project
  • Willingness and proficiency in working with remote teams and team members
  • Ability to blend both quantitative metrics and qualitative feedback into the product design process
  • Track record in prioritizing research questions in a related domain, and leading research projects from start to end while involving stakeholders appropriately at each stage of the product lifecycle
  • Strong understanding of strengths and shortcomings of different research methods, including when and how to apply them during each product phase
  • The drive and ability to learn quickly about our domain and our complex technology

What Personal Information is used and how long is it retained?

Taleo* uses Personal Information such as your name, contact information and other information necessary for the application process. Who will have access to Personal Information in Taleo and how will they protect it?

Access to Personal Information in Taleo is limited to you, HR Personnel and limited IT support personnel, based on specific security roles and standard data authorization as outlined for all HR applications. Additionally, some countries utilize third party recruiters that will also have access to the information you input into Taleo. Taleo is hosted by a third party vendor, Oracle, based in the United States. Oracle may also use additional third party vendors to process personal data. Oracle has contractually committed to protect Personal Information and to process it only as instructed by our company, including the destruction of the Personal Information at the end of the retention period. Oracle has certified its compliance with the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield Framework for processing employee related Personal Information.
Access to Personal Information may be from within the country in which the individual to whom the data relates is based, or from any other country in which an authorized user of Taleo is based. While the country from which information is accessed may not have laws that protect Personal Information in the same way as the country in which you are based, all Personal Information in Taleo will be used in accordance with the Global Privacy Notice for Employment-Related purposes , any local privacy notices you receive, all applicable company policies with respect to the privacy and confidentiality of Personal Information, including, but not limited to our Global Privacy and Data Protection Policy and our Global Internet Privacy Policy and any additional requirements of the countries in which the employees to whom the data relate are based.

 

How do I update, correct or delete Personal Information in Taleo?

You have the right to access, rectify and delete your Personal Information that you provide and maintain in your Taleo Profile at any time. You can also request that the information be removed from our database by contacting the company’s Privacy Office. At any time you may decide no longer to use Taleo, raise a concern or make a complaint about your privacy or use or sharing of Personal Information about you by contacting the company’s Privacy Office.
